Kids Quilts

Heritage Quilters sponsors several organizations locally and nationally that provide quilts for
seriously ill or compromised children and young people.
Annually we donate from 150 to 200+ quilts.
Our guild has had material, batting, etc., donated by several individuals for the purpose of making Kids Quilts
Some of our recent activities include quilts that were delivered to Kids Peace, a nationwide organization that places
needy children, infants through 16 years of age into foster care.   The St. Frances Center,
which houses young people from 8 - 18.     Several baby quilts have been delivered to the Women's Center for newborns.
We also donate quilts to the Appellation Project through the First United Methodist Church of Crown Point.

Historic Lake County Court House

Heritage Quilters of Crown Point was originally founded when a group of women were informed that the
'old down town court house' was in need of much repair.
These ladies got together and made a raffle quilt and donated the proceeds to the restoration project.
Hence the Heritage Quilters Guild was formed and has been donating annually to the Historic Lake County Court House.

Marie Webster House

As most of you fellow quilters know, Marie Webster was an early pioneer quilter, designer and author.
For more information regarding Marie Webster's story and information about her former home,
which is now headquarters and a museum for Quilters Hall of Fame,
go to www. mariewebster.net or www. quiltershalloffame.org.

Other Local Sponsorships

We also donate to local TV stations that sponsor quilt programs, The Crown Point Community Foundation
and other local civic organizations and schools by presenting programs and technique demonstrations on quilting

KIDS QUILTS

Thank you to everyone who participated in the KIDS QUILT CHALLENGE. What a Display of beautiful & happy quilts we had!!! It was so hard to pick just ONE quilt for the vote. Again thank you all and you certenly will make some kids very happy. I was asked by some members about what kind of homes we give quilts to. Mary Jane from St. Frances Home at St. Margaret Hospital in Dyer has been to our meetings and talked with us about their facility. We give them quilts on a regular basis. The Hospital is also connected with St. Monica's which we also give quilts to. Also thanks to all who are making pillow cases for the kids. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR BEAUTIFUL QUILTS AND YOUR DEDICATION IN HELPIN THE KIDS.¤¤
